SDETSDETTest Requests
Websites engineers, product managers, and TPMs — if you need testing support for new features, A/B experiments, or bug verification, the Websites Test Group is available to help. Tell us the scope (areas to cover), desired environments and browsers, any test data or accounts we should use, and your target date; we’ll propose a test plan, estimate effort, and run exploratory and regression checks as needed. Send requests to our triage channel or drop the details in the testing request form and we’ll get back with timelines and next steps.

Manual Testing Request
Purpose
Verify that the application functions correctly from an end-user perspective.
Identify functional, UI, usability, and workflow issues that automated tests may miss.
Confirm that recent changes haven’t introduced regressions.
Scope
Functional areas: [list modules/features to test — e.g., authentication, user profile, payments, search]
Platforms: [list target OS/browser/device combinations — e.g., Windows/Chrome, macOS/Safari, iOS, Android]
Environments: [e.g., staging, QA, pre-prod] with test data details or credentials
Exclusions: [areas not included in this request]
Test Activities
Exploratory testing: roam through the app to find unexpected behaviors or edge cases.
Test case execution: run the provided test cases and record results (Pass/Fail/Blocked).
Regression checks: exercise previously reported critical flows related to the changed code.
UI/UX verification: validate layout, responsiveness, labels, error messages, and accessibility basics (focus order, keyboard navigation, readable contrast).
Data validation: confirm data is saved, displayed, and synchronized correctly across screens and sessions.
Error handling: trigger and observe error states, confirm messages are clear and actionable.
Cross-browser/device checks: verify consistent behavior and layout across listed platforms.
Test Data and Setup
Use the provided test accounts and datasets (see attached file or credentials block).
Steps to reproduce the environment setup:
Reset database to snapshot: [snapshot name or ID].
Seed users: [admin@example.com / user@example.com — passwords].
Configure third-party integrations: [describe mocks or sandbox endpoints].
Time zone, locale, or feature-flag notes if relevant.
Test Cases / Checklist
Login: valid credentials, invalid credentials, password reset flow, session timeout.
Navigation: main menu, breadcrumbs, deep links, back/forward browser behavior.
CRUD operations: create, read, update, delete items; validate form fields and required field behavior.
Search & filters: expected results, empty state, sorting, pagination.
File uploads/downloads: supported file types, size limits, progress, retry behavior.
Notifications: in-app, email, push (if available); content accuracy.
Payments (if applicable): sandbox transactions, success/failure flows, receipts.
Concurrency: edits from multiple users, conflict resolution.
Performance sanity: page load times for key pages, responsiveness under normal load.
Security basics: session expiration, access control (attempt unauthorized actions), input validation (basic SQL/XSS check).
Reporting
For each test case, record:
Test case ID and steps performed
Environment and browser/device
Test data used
Result: Pass / Fail / Blocked / Not Applicable
Actual vs expected behavior
Screenshots and video for failures or unclear behavior
Console logs, network traces, and error messages when relevant
Severity classification for defects: Critical / High / Medium / Low
Reproducibility: Always / Sometimes / Unable to reproduce
Priority suggestion for fixing, if known
Acceptance Criteria
All critical and high-severity issues fixed or accepted by stakeholders.
No blocker issues remaining.
All listed test cases marked Pass or N/A.
Key user journeys (login, primary transaction flow, logout) work as expected across supported platforms.
Timeline and Contact
Requested start date: [date]
Estimated effort: [number] tester-days
Primary contact for questions / clarifications: [name and email]
Slack or issue tracker channel for quick triage: [channel name]
Notes and Observations
Include any suggestions, usability observations, or edge cases discovered that aren’t strict defects.
Flag flaky or inconsistent behavior separately so it can be triaged.
